(JUNE 2) Women’s boxing achieved a significant
milestone on May 30, 2026 as Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) delivered a
completely sold-out event at the El Paso County Coliseum.
The "MVPW-03" fight card, held on May 30, 2026, drew an capacity crowd of over
7,000 fans, illustrating the monumental growth of women’s boxing over the last
two decades. This night of women's boxing marked a stark contrast to the sport's
early days.

In the early 2000s, I covered two pioneering
all-female cards in Texas featuring legendary boxer Ann Wolfe on two Brian
Pardo's boxing cards. At the weigh-ins, there were no crowds, no significant
news reporters, etc., of the action of in anticipation of an all-female boxing
card-----At those early events in the 2000's----only a few scattered fans filled
the seats.
I will have to say----Women's boxing has come a
long way since then, moving from nearly empty venues to packed, roaring arenas.
While the precise final dollar amount for the gate remains confidential, MVP
officials confirmed that ticket sales shattered all historical data to generate
the highest-grossing combat sports gate in the history of the El Paso County
Coliseum.
In the Championship Main Event, El Paso's own Stephanie Han successfully
retained her WBA Lightweight World Title, defeating trailblazer Holly Holm via a
very controversial majority decision with one judge seeing the fight as a draw.
In the co-Main Event, Amanda Serrano won by TKO over Cheyenne
Hanson, tying the all-time female knockout record with Christy Martin's boxing
record.
