ROUND 1
Hernandez
immediately attacks right from the start with a number of wild swings
and puts Halmich immediately under pressure. But Regina has been in
tighter spots before, she defends well and just waits for the right
moment to retaliate.
Her jabs
hit their marks several times.
ROUND 2
Marilyn
again starts aggressively. She fights from the inside and takes most of
the initiative. Halmich counterpunches effectively and keeps everything
under control. An attractive round.
ROUND
Once
more, it’s Hernandez who opens up. She manages to hit Halmich a few
times with her hooks. But the world champion stays cool and comes back
strongly in the second half of the round.
ROUND 4
In the
opening seconds, Halmich absorbs a few right jabs. Marilyn courageously
keeps coming forward all the time, though Halmich is technically
superior and her punches are definitely more accurate.
ROUND 5
For the
first time, Halmich dominates from the start. There are a few impressive
exchanges. Hernandez covers herself better than before, but it’s still
Halmich who lands more solid punches.
ROUND 6
Halmich
dominates more clearly than ever, scoring with several jabs to the face
of her opponent. The fight keeps pleasing the crowd, both fighters are
game and the pace is quite high.
ROUND 7
Marilyn
ducks to avoid Regina’s punches. Halfway through the round, there’s a
very fierce exchange in which Regina lands at least half a dozen hooks.
An excellent round for Regina.
ROUND 8
Hernandez starts aggressively, chasing Halmich across the ring, but her
blows are not very accurate and Halmich lands more punches at every
rally.
ROUND 9
A
one-sided round. Hernandez hardly manages to touch Halmich now. She
keeps trying, but she looks desperate.
ROUND 10
Halmich
clearly dominates, she avoids virtually everything Marilyn throws at her
while she keeps constantly scoring with jabs and hooks.
RESULT:
Halmich wins by unanimous decision
Daniel
Talon (France): 100 - 91
Francisco
Vazquez Marcos: 100 – 91
Bob
Logist: 100 – 91
Upon
hearing the decision, Marilyn leaves the ring in tears.
She was
clearly no match for Halmich, but then again, Regina has faced worse
opponents (just think of Nadia Loritz). Marilyn made up for her lack in
skill and experience by showing a lot of heart. She kept trying from the
opening seconds to the very end, so that the bout, though not a great or
exciting fight, still was pretty entertaining. Although Marilyn lost
every round, she was not totally overmatched and Regina never really got
her in trouble.
Halmich
made a good impression throughout, but to regain the respect of her fans
after her poor showing against Elena Reid, she desperately needs to take
on and beat another top-notch opponent soon. Peter
