The 2023 Lafone Boxing Cup at the 02

(MAY 2) On April 21, 2023,
at the 02 Dome London, the 2023 Lafone Boxing cup was held that
displayed some fantastic boxing with many of the MET police
taking on local rivals in a great sporting event.
The main female event saw a fantastic Met Police vs.
Dorset Police bout which had the crowd cheering all the way
through.
In the Red Corner, MET police boxer from London Amber Justin,
eight fights, weighed in at 59.5kg to face Dorset Boxer Kayleigh
Pingarelli, four fights, weighing in at 60.2kg. Both females
boxers representing their local police units.
Pingarelli entered to the sound of boos from the crowd and
looked to have the reach advantage over the shorter Justin with
both females in peak athletic form. Both boxers showed fierce
determination while the ref read the rules with neither taking
their eyes off each other.
In round one, it started hard and fast to Justin who drove
straight into Pingarelli with a barrage of combinations to the
body and head and footwork that drove Pingarelli onto the ropes.
WBAN saw the first round going to Justin.
In round two began with Justin quickly coming forward but
Pingarelli adjusted to this as she had the end of the previous
round with footwork moving her out the way. Pingarelli then had
success in holding the centre of the ring and target Justin.
In this round Justin took two eight-counts. We had
Pingarelli clearly winning this round.
Lastly, in round three, Justin wasted little time, and came out
hard and fast. Pingarelli covered well, strong tight arms saw
all of Justin’s onslaught just bounce off arm and shoulder
muscle. The third round was non-stop action from these
two, and it appeared that Pingarelli had a slight edge in the
last round.
After the fight fest of an all-action bout with these two, Pingarelli
won by a split decision.
