(DEC 30) . It was a tough pick this month with so many great fights that took place recently between women's boxing.... Bridges stood out for her tenacity in her fight on December 10th against O'Connell in a non-stop action packed bout between these two. 2022 was a great year for the sport--let's hope we see it continue!

World Boxing Council (WBC) Plans to create Transgender Boxing division

(DEC 30) One of the four major world boxing bodies has announced that they plan to create a transgender division for male-to-female (MTF) and female-to-Male (FTM) professional boxers.  WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman stated they plan to introduce the new division in 2023 and call interested athletes to come forward. (DEC 29) On January 20, 2023, at the Kissimmee Civic Center, in Kissimmee, Florida, Jasmine "Animal" Artiga, of Tampa, Florida, 9-0-1, is set to fight on that card with, other female boxers listed to be on the card. (DEC 19) LOS ANGELES, CA--Golden Boy Fight Night: LA Edition closed the year with an action-packed night at The Commerce Casino and Hotel with a statement-making second-round knockout victory by NABF Welterweight titleholder Raul “Cugar” Curiel (12-0, 10 KOs) of Guadalajara, Mexico. Curiel successfully defended his title against Douglasville, Georgia’s Brad Solomon (29-6, 9 KOs). Scheduled for 10-rounds, Solomon only lasted 44-seconds into the second-round. Update:  Cris Cyborg Wins Her Pro debut over Gabrielle Holloway by Decision

(DEC 12) On Saturday night, at the CHI Health Center, Omaha, Nebraska, Cris Cyborg, 154.5, making her pro debut, of Las Vegas, Nevada, won her bout by a four-round unanimous decision over Gabrielle Holloway, 154, of Rhoadesville, Virginia. Cyborg, is now 1-0-0 (0KO) and Holloway,0-3-0. Final judges scores were 40-35, 40-34, and 39-36.

  Today:  Ebanie Bridges Wins by a Eighth round TKO

(DEC 10) Today at the First Direct Arena, Leeds, UK, Ebanie Bridges, 117 ¼,retained her IBF Bantamweight World title when she stopped Shannon O’Connell, 117 ¾ in the eighth round of a ten-round bout.  O’Connell was down in the third round, and in the eighth round Bridges through a barrage of combinations where the ref stopped the fight 1:45 minutes in that round.   For all results on the other two female bouts on this card, go here.

(DEC 9) Alrie Meleisea is back with a massive win over Sequita Hemingway for the New Zealand National (Pro Box NZ) Heavyweight title with a possible world title next.  New Zealand-born Samoan descendant Alrie Meleisea, won her first New Zealand title against Tongan Nailini Helu in 2017.
