When Katie Taylor first started boxing, she had to do it under the guise of the name Kay due to the fact that boxing was illegal for women in Ireland. That’s right, Taylor had to pretend to be a boy in order to follow her dream. Fundora Wins by a Decision over Reyes

(OCT 9)  Last night at the  Dignity Health Sports Park, in Carson, California, Gabriela Fundora, 111 1/4, of Coachella, California, won by a ten round unanimous decision over Naomi Arellano Reyes, 111 1/2, of Tepic, Mexico. The two were fighting for the WBC Latino Flyweight title. Fundora continues to display excellent skills as she did in this fight. Final judges scores were 99-91, 99-91, and 98-92.

(OCT 8) In his open letter, legendary boxer Roy Jones Jr.  addressed the International Olympic Committee.He claimed that boxing should be represented in the Olympic programme and launched a campaign on "Stand For Boxing." ‘I cannot remain silent when boxing is not represented in the LA 2028 initial programme. To exclude boxing from the Olympic Games would be nonsense, it would be no less than committing a crime.’ Full Story

(OCT 7) Three-time New Zealand Champion Lani Daniels is currently on top of the ranking list after WBC released their recent update for the female heavyweight division. Daniels is now ranked 1st in the WBC and 2nd in the WBA.  On the 30th of September WBA and WBC released their most recent with the WBC updating their Heavyweight women's division for the first time in a year.
