in San Jose, California, Kelsey
Jeffries, 121 1/2, of Gilroy, California won by a 10-round
majority decision over
Jerri Sitzes, 122, in a 10-round super-bantamweight
IBA title bout. Final judges scores were 96-94, 97-93 for Jeffries,

(SEPT 24) Erin Toughill's baby sister,
Megan Toughill, was killed in a car wreck on Sunday, September 19,
2004 at 2:30 AM while driving on the freeway in Orange County,
California. Prayers go out to the Toughill family. Erin told WBAN,
"She was a beautiful soul and will now enter heaven as an angel which

world champion Jessica Rakoczy well, when she goes into surgery
today to repair some badly strained ligaments in her ankle. She
will be in Baltimore, Maryland for this procedure. Rakoczy had
injured her ankle when she fought Lisa Lewis in February, and then she

2004. She got married in the "Basilica de Guadalupe" one of
the most prominent churches in Mexico. Serrano and her new husband
are honeymooning in Huatulco beaches in Oaxaca State.

Halmich said the following: "Dear Sue Fox, my English is not so
good, but I think it´s important that I write you a letter. First,
I would like to say, that I think the fight between me and Elena Reid
was a big fight with a lot of action. I would like to say thanks to
Elena Reid for this fight. The decision was very close, I know that. And
I´m not very happy about that and I really do not feel like a winner.

McConnell Takes Tough opponent in
second pro bout!
September 13, 2004
(SEPT 13) On Saturday, September 11, at the Silver Reef Casino,
Ferndale, Washington, Molly McConnell won a unanimous decision over
Claudia Valenciana, now 7-2-0 (4KO), and #1 ranked Light middleweight in
the United States. After the first round of getting used to Valenciana's
mauling approach to boxing. Molly went on to win the last three rounds
handedly with scores of 39-37 on all three judges cards. Valenciana
weighed in two pounds over her contract weight of 147 and according to
Bill Mertzl, refused to lose the two pounds saying; "we'll just go
home". Molly accepted the bout and at fight time Valenciana weighed 158.
This was a BIG order for McConnell who boxes as a Light Welterweight,
however the BIG order was handled with ease. Molly's record improves to

(SEPT 13) On Saturday, September 11, at the Cabbagetown Gym, in Toronto,
Canada, Amateur boxer Jenn Ogg, and reigning women’s world lightweight
boxing champion, knocked out Wendy Lee in just 12 quick seconds! Durell
Wambolt caught the action and told WBAN, “It was an awesome display of
power! Ogg has 67amateur bouts 60-7, and is a London police officer. She
just recently announced her upcoming retirement from boxing, and plans
to make her last appearance on October 15th, as the headliner of the
second Banger in the Hangar dinner-boxing card at the London Convention
Centre.

predictable? Ah...yes...Hopeful that a fair decision would be made if
Elena "Baby Doll" Reed fought hometown queen Halmich and beat
her....absolutely. But that is only in a perfect world---and last night
proved again, that there is no "perfect world" in the sport of boxing.

(SEPT 10) Tonight, Felix Promotion in cooperated with Fair-Play
promotion presented a professional boxing gala in the City Sport Hall,
Tököl, Hungary, which featured three women's bout. After the long
inactivity period Piroska Beki (6-2-0; 2KO's) winning by scheduled four
round split decision over Agnes Varga (0-2-0) in a featherweight
division. Beki dominated her opponent every rounds, but knocked down in
the 2nd round with a lucky-punch.

(SEPT 7) The 2nd International German Women’s Amateur Boxing
Championships were held at the Bavarian town of Maisach last weekend, in
the categories women (born 1985 or earlier) and Juniors (born 1986 and
1987). The championships took place in a three day period, beginning on
Friday, September 3. The preliminary bouts were held in August bouts.
The Prelims were held at the gymnasium of one of the local schools,

European Championship. Riccione is a beautiful city, on the Adriatic
Sea. Also, from September 7-12, many Amateur boxing teams will be busy
at the International tournaments in Debracem, Hungary, which included
the Italian amateur team. Then the Italian team will leave for Poland to
compete dual matches in preparation of the European Championship. Lastly
on October 15, in Lastra di Signa, Italy, Sonia De Biase will fight a

(SEPT 1) WIBA's Light heavyweight world champion Gwendolyn O'Neil was
recently interviewed (video) on Muzik Media. O'Neil talks about her
boxing career, and many other interesting tidbits about her life as a
boxer in Guyana. O'Neil is the first woman in her country to have
achieved a world title.
