Patricia Alcivar aka "Patty Boom Boom", 5'4", was born in Elmhurst, New York on December 12, 1976 and lived in New York City all her life, until 2007 when she moved to Asheville, North Carolina.

Patricia is an accomplished amateur boxer having won two consecutive NYC Golden Gloves titles at 119lb in 1998 & 1999. She also won the gold at the first Women's National Amateur Boxing title in 1997 and went on to take the silver the very next year. Her impressive performance won her athlete of the year by the United States Olympic Committee. This was the first time ever a female was given this honor for boxing. Patricia, won gold on team USA in the first ever International competition against Canada in 1998 in Scranton, PA.

Patricia sees her life as a challenging adventure. Leaving an abusive home at the age of 15 years old and managing to finish school while working after school to support herself was tough, but it is part of what has literally made a fighter out of her. She has always looked to different sports as both an outlet and a way of building her self-esteem and confidence. She has participated and finished 10 NYC Marathons and one of her goals in the future is to complete a full Ironman.

After a 3-year lay-off from boxing, Patricia feels that she still has some work to do. The only thing missing from her boxing resume is turning professional. "I want to prove to myself that I can do anything as well as receive the respect and admiration from other people."

Patricia is scheduled to compete in a few more amateur boxing tournaments and hopes to turn pro in late 2009! She has been in a few TV Commercials and Ads and hopes to get more opportunities like this through her athletics.
