Keisher "Fire" McLeod-Wells,  or “Fire” as she is better known, has had an incredibly successful amateur career winning an amazing 12 championships, including winning the New York Golden Gloves tournament 4 times, and most recently rounding out her amateur career by winning the Ringside World Championships for the 2nd time this past August.

Fire was first introduced to boxing in 2002 at a time when she was pursuing a career of acting and modeling. She was given a free gym pass to work with a boxing trainer for a week. Loving the workout yet knowing nothing about boxing she continued training because she found the work out regime fun and it kept her fit for her acting career. Competing never even crossed her mind until she was spotted by a coach who said she had all the attributes to be a great boxer and that if she competed, she’d be champion in a year. Fire won her first championship in less than a year.

On April 17 this year at Madison Square Garden, Fire highlighted her amateur career by winning her fourth New York Golden Gloves title with a 4-1 decision against Alexis Asher in a 114-pound women's final. The golden gloves is the most prestigious, oldest and largest amateur boxing tournament in the world. Nearly 700 fighters- including more than 80 women- competed this year.

“Boxing is an outlet for me for my trials and tribulations in life. It’s very therapeutic. I also want to help build a name for female boxing so I can help make the movement of getting equal rights in boxing, especially for the amateurs.”

As Fire sets out on her new journey as a professional boxer, Mark Breland arguably the US’s best ever amateur boxer has been brought in as her coach, Breland’s rangy style and tall slender build is similar to that of Fire’s, Breland looks to transform Fires very successful amateur style into an equally successful professional one.

Optimum Sports Agency believes Keisher “Fire” Mcleod-Wells has the talent and desire to become the face of women’s boxing, and looks forward to being apart of her journey.
