(SEPT 7) Last night at the Buffalo Bill’s Star Arena, in Primm, Nevada, Melissa “Huracan” Hernandez, 125,  won a 10-round unanimous decision over Ela Nunez, 125. The two were fighting for the vacant WIBA super featherweight title.  Final judges scores were 97-93 on all cards.

Photographer Mary Ann Owen who was ringside for the event said, "Nunez made a great showing, she was very busy in every round. The fight was a real crowd pleaser, lots of action and very entertaining. Both fighters boxing techniques were outstanding, they fought hard and furious every round. Nunez was there to fight and stood strong against Hernandez exchanging blows."

"Hernandez kept the pressure on Nunez all ten rounds, it was like the war of the wills.  This fight raised the bar in female boxing, it was an excellent match up," added Owen.
