Archived Boxing Result from 2009:  Susi Kentikian Wins by Decision over Reid
by Torben L. of Denmark
March 21, 2009

(MAR 21) Elena "Baby Doll" Reid,  was far from her former glory in last night's challenge for the WBA-WIBF Flyweight titles against Susi Kentikian. The experienced Reid seemed passive and without a game plan, or if she had one; unable to carry it out.

Kentikian took control from the first bell, and didn't have much trouble getting through the American's very
ineffective guard. Reid showed little imitative and was too slow to catch her younger opponent. She received quite a punishment throughout the 10 rounds, as Kentikian got through with her combinations without much difficulty. The judges score the fight 100-90, 100-90 and 100-91.

Reid proved she is no quitter in the ring, and she absorbed everything the hard punching champion threw at her, but the fight ought to make Reid seriously consider an end to her boxing career. Reid has given the fans some very exciting and entertaining fights in the past.  Reid was only a shadow of the fighter who was unlucky to get only a draw against the "then" champion Regina Halmich in their first fight in 2004 and made a very close affair of the rematch a year later.

Kentikian made a very convincing performance, and it will be interesting to see which suitable challenger can be found for her next title defence. A fight against Simona Galassi, could be very interesting, and would be an opportunity to unify the WBA, WBC & WIBF Titles.
