(NOV 24) WBAN has been notified today, that Christy Martin, one of the most prominent pioneer boxers in the sport was shot and stabbed yesterday by her husband/trainer James "Jim" Martin.

According to the massive news sources about this tragedy, it was reported that in Apopka, Florida, where Jim Martin and Christy reside, there was an apparent domestic violence situation where the two were fighting in their home.

What has been reported thus far is that Martin, 42 years old, is currently hospitalized with being shot and stabbed in her torso and left leg. She was able to get away from James and got out of the house, and then flagged down a passing motorist for help. The motorist took Martin to a Florida Hospital.

The police were able to talk with Martin at the hospital and she was able to identify her attacker as her husband.

Police have been trying to locate Jim Martin but at this time he has not been found. According to one news source, they reported: "Jim Martin may be a danger to himself and deputies say they are concerned for his safety. Records indicate deputies were called to the couple's home twice on Tuesday. An out-of-state caller contacted the Sheriff's Office to report Jim Martin was distraught about the relationship with his wife and was suicidal. The caller also said there were weapons inside the home."
