Katie Taylor to Defend her World Title Belts Against Cindy Serrano---October 20th in Boston!
by Sue TL Fox
August 8, 2018

(AUG 8)  On October 20, 2018, at the TD Garden, in Boston, Massachusetts, the live boxing event will feature undefeated boxer Katie Taylor, 10-0-0 (5KO),of Bray, Ireland, who in this short time as a pro has earned the WBA and IBF Lightweight world titles.

Taylor will be fighting Cindy "Checkmate" Serrano, 27-5-3 (10KO), of Brooklyn, New York, who currently holds the WBO Featherweight title, and will be vacating it to move up to the lightweight division.   Taylor will be making a defense of her two belts [WBA, IBF] on this card in a scheduled ten-round bout.

Both Taylor and Serrano are ranked in the top ten in their respective weight classes on BoxRec and WBAN.  Taylor ranked #2 as a lightweight, and Serrano #9 as a featherweight.

Serrano told WBAN, "I am excited about fighting Katie Taylor.  Taylor is a talented boxer, but I am up for the challenge."

This will be Taylor and Serrano's first appearance to fight in Boston.  It is on the undercard of Billy Joe Saunders' world title defense against Demetrius Andrade.

According to news sources, Taylor was scheduled to fight in Chicago on October 6th, however, the promoters Matchroom Boxing moved Taylor's bout to the east coast venue on this October 20th card.

WBAN will keep boxing fans updated on this upcoming fight with Taylor vs. Serrano.
