Live on ESPN:  Mikaela Mayer Defeats Edina Kiss by RTD

(AUGUST 26)  Last at the Gila River Arena, in Glendale, Arizona,  Junior lightweight Mikaela Mayer, 129¼, of Woodland Hills, California, won by a third round [2:00] RTD, over Edina Kiss, 128½, of Budapest, Hungary,  in a scheduled six round bout.  Mayer remains undefeated with a 7-0-0 (4KO), and Kiss is now 14-8-0 (8KO).  The bout was televised on ESPN and ESPN Deportes. 

The female bout was featured along with (men's boxing)  world title fights, with the mainliner featuring Raymundo Beltran vs. Jose Pedraza.  Pedraza won by a 12-round unanimous decision winning the WBO lightweight champion.  Beltran went down in the eleventh round;  In the co-main Isaac Dogboe, won by a first round TKO over Hidennori Otake, in a scheduled 12-round bout, for the WBO Super Bantamweight title.  

In a pre-fight report, Mayer said, "Fighting live on ESPN is a dream come true and something I have been looking forward to since I made the decision to leave the amateur ranks and turn pro with Top Rank," Mayer said. "I gave up my dream of an Olympic gold medal to step onto a bigger stage and to help take women's boxing to the next level. Now, after years of fighting out of the limelight, I get to showcase my skills on the greatest sports network in the world."
