Women's Boxing Worldwide---Scarce action this weekend
by Sue TL Fox
April 19, 2019

(APR 19) According to this weekend and many previous weekends throughout the last year or two...we still are not seeing the activity change much for the regular club venues to feature female boxing, even though we are having some fantastic high-profile bouts going on that are being televised and showcased.

I went through Boxrec this weekend, looking at the worldwide activity, and folks "it ain't much."

Many of the cards have NO WOMEN'S BOXING on the cards--and the ones that do have the females featured, they are on the undercard, four round bouts, etc.

Here are the few bouts taking place WORLDWIDE for this weekend: I did not list any incomplete fights, that had no opponent listed, and there may be other fights going on that we are not aware of. If they are please email me to let me add their fights.

Tonight at the Club Once Unidos, Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina, promoted by O.R. Promotions - Osvaldo Rivero, there is a four-round bout on the undercard: Bantamweight Micaela Sarfati, who will be making her pro debut vs. Antonella Molina, who is looking to have her first win in the sport, going into the bout with a 0-4 record.

In France, at the Salle Leyrit, Nice, Alpes-Maritimes, Victoire Piteau of Monaco, with a 1-0-0 record, will face Helena Claveau, 0-0-1, of Marseille, France. This card has nine male bouts also scheduled on this card according to Boxrec.

In the United Kingdom, in Olympia, Liverpool, Merseyside, Natasha Jones, 7-1-0 (5KO), of Liverpool, is set to fight Bianka Majlath, 3-1-0 (3KO), of Kartal, Hungary, in a six-rounder. in addition ten male pro bouts.

On Saturday night, April 20th, at the Centro Recreativo Pasteleros, Luis Guillon, Buenos Aires, Argentina, in a battle of the locals on this card, flyweight Anahi Lopez, 13-0-1 (1KO), of Buenos Aires, will fight Debora Vanesa Gomez, 5-3-1 (0KO), also of Buenos Aires.
At another venue in Buenos Aires, at the Club Atlético Defensores de Villa Ofelia, in a second battle of the locals, on the undercard, flyweight Ayelen Granadino, undeated with a 4-0-0 record coming into the bout, will fight Maria Baumstarh, 1-0-0 (1KO), and both of these female boxers are out of Buenos Aires.

In boxing action in Canada, at the Danforth Music Hall, in Toronto, Ontario, welterweight Tanja Ovsenik, 2-0-0 (1KO), of Toronto, will fight Christina Barry, 1-4-0 (0KO), of Winnipeg, Canada.
