April 28, 2019

(APRIL 28) Last night at the Cajun Dome, in Lafayette, Louisiana,  Melissa "The Shark" Hernandez, 137¾, of Miami, Florida, successfully returned to the ring after not fighting since July of 2016.  Hernandez fought Selina Barrios, 137¾, of San Antonio, Texas, delivering Barrios first professional loss.

Hernandez won by an eight-round unanimous decision with judges scores of 73-79, 73-79, and 72-80.  Hernandez improved her record to  23-7-3 (7KO), and Barrios is now 5-1-0 (2KO).  The fight was televised on DAZN/ESPN 2 (Mexico), and was the first fight live on TV.

Retired World champion Bonnie Canino, with Team Hernandez, and worked Hernandez's corner said, "Melissa got the win tonight. Unanimous decision, all eight rounds one Judge, the other two Judges gave Melissa all seven rounds."
