Roy Englebrecht
is the President and CEO of Roy Englebrecht Promotions
California’s third largest fight promotions company. Oscar De La
Hoya purchased Roy Englebrecht Promotions in December of 2001
and Golden Boy Promotions was formed with Roy serving as COO for
the first three years. At the end of 2004 he left GBP and
reestablished Roy Englebrecht Promotions. Roy Englebrecht is the
oldest fight promotions company in California now in its 28th
year.

promotes the Fight Club OC fight series at The Hangar on
the grounds of the OC Fair & Event Center now in its ninth
season and on a three-year sellout streak. Prior to the
formation of Fight Club OC in 2011 he promoted the highly
successful Battle in the Ballroom professional boxing
shows at the Irvine Marriott Hotel for 25 straight years. This
bi-monthly professional boxing show was the longest running club
pro boxing show in the country. 36 current or former world
champions have fought at the Marriott, including Shane Mosley
and Johnny Tapia. In 2007 he became one of the first boxing
promoters to introduce Mixed Martial Arts shows to his
Battle in the Ballroom concept. With the addition of the
Rumble On The Water series at the historic Queen Mary in Long
Beach, CA and the Coliseum Gladiator MMA Championship
Series at the LA Coliseum Roy Englebrecht Promotions will
promote close to 20 shows in 2017, more than any other promoter
in the state of California.

has developed and owns Fight Promoter
University, the Mixed Martials Arts “Fist Series”,
Entrepreneurship Dreams University, and Paparazzi
University. Fight Promoter University held its inaugural
four-day session in February of 2006 with 33 students, and this
first of its kind fight promotions training experience gained
worldwide attention. A total of 146 people have attended the
eight FPU sessions over the past six years. Englebrecht was
hired by Fox TV in 2002 to serve as Event Coordinator for their
unique Celebrity Boxing Show which garnered great
ratings.
Englebrecht has been involved with minor league
sports for the past 32 years, as one of the original owners of
the California League Class A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.
He also had ownership in the Arena Football League’s Anaheim
Piranhas and the West Coast Hockey League’s Reno
Rage. For over 25 years he owned and operated
Sportscaster Camps of America, the leading sports
broadcasting training school in America with over 2,250 alumni.
From 1975 - 1981 Roy served as Director of Promotions for the
Los Angles Lakers, Los Angeles Kings, and all Forum events.
While at the Forum, Roy developed The Laker Girls dance
team, and coordinated the 1980 Lakers Championship Parade. He is
currently on the faculty and advisory board in the Sports
Management master’s degree program at Long Beach State. He also
serves as a Commissioner on the City of Newport Beach’s Parks,
Beaches & Parks Commission. In September of 2009 he was inducted
into the California Boxing Hall of Fame.
Roy has been married for 48 years to Nancy and
they reside in Newport Beach. They have two children, Allison
West, 43, a former college and pro volleyball player who is
married to former pro soccer player Matty West, and a son Drew,
39, a 2004 graduate of Vanguard University and current Manager
of Marketing and Operations for Roy Englebrecht Promotions. Englebrecht
earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from
John Brown University where he is a member of the school’s
Sports Hall Of Fame, and a Master of Education graduate degree
from Northeastern Oklahoma State University.
