Former Champs Clash For WBF World Flyweight Crown

(MAY 29) Two former French World Boxing Federation (WBF) World Champions will clash for the vacant WBF Womens World Flyweight title on Saturday June 8, headlining a show at the Complexe Sportif Méja in Belaruc-les-Bains, France.  Leatitier Arzalier, 13-1 (3), who won the WBF World Strawweight title almost exactly three years ago but never got a chance to defend it, will take on Anne Sophie Da Costa, 28-5 (11), WBF World Strawweight Champion between 2012 and 2014 and WBF World Light Flyweight ruler from 2015 to 2018.  Full Story

Jessica McCaskill Won a Unanimous Decision over Anahi Sanchez

(MAY 26) Last night at the MGM National Harbor, Oxon Hill, Maryland, super lightweight Jessica McCaskill, 138¾, of Chicago, Illinois, won a ten-round unanimous decision over Anahi Sanchez, 138. (MAY 26) Last night at the Estadio de Béisbol, Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico, super bantamweight Marcela Acuna, 122.5, of Buenos Aires, had a ten-round majority draw with Jackie Nava, 122.5; in a second female bout, Kenia Enriquez, 107, won a ten-round unanimous decision over Leiryn Flores, 107. Ewa Brodnicka Wins by a Decision over Janeth Perez

(MAY 254) Last night in Poznan, Poland, the WBO Jr. Lightweight World Champion Ewa Brodnicka, 129¾, of Warsaw, Poland, successfully defended her title against Janeth Pérez, 127¾, of Jalisco, of México, via majority decision at the Jelenia Gora Coliseum. Scorecards: 97-93, 95-95 & 96-94.  Brodnicka improved her record and still undefeated with a 17-0 (2KO); and Perez fell to 24-4-2 (6KO).

(MAY 13) COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Revenge was sweet for USA Boxing's No. 1 rated female lightweight Rashida Ellis, now a 7-time national champion who has her sights firmly set on the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan.  Last month, Ellis took top honors at the Pan American Qualifier in Nicaragua, shutting out her Brazilian rival Beatriz Ferreira, who had beaten Ellis earlier this year at the Strandja Tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria. The two elite lightweights could very well meet again at the Pan American Games, July 27-August 2, in Lima, Peru, as well as at the 2020 Olympics.  Full Story

(MAY 3)  This week I had the pleasure to interview one of the top boxing managers in the sport today, Brian Cohen.  Cohen handles many of top elite female boxers, and he travels worldwide when one of his boxers are on the card.  I met Cohen many years ago and I have followed him---in the aspect of how he has managed female boxers, and will say that I only wish that I had had someone like him to advocate for me when I was thrown into a lion's den as a young fighter in my 20's----not knowing how cruel the sport can be to an innocent and naive fighter as I in the late 1970s.  I asked Cohen how did he get into managing boxers and his background in the sport.  Cohen told me the following...Full Story
