Chantelle Cameron to Face Arina dos Santos Araujo for a WBC Title 
September 30, 2020

(SEPT 30) On Sunday, October 4, 2020, at the Marshall Arena, in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, in a female bout, Chantelle Cameron, 12-0-0 (7KO), of Northhampton, UK, will face Ariana dos Santos Araujo, 6-0-0 (1KO), of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The two will be fighting a ten-round bout for the vacant WBC Super Lightweight Title.  

Thorslund Wins by a Decision over Radovanovic

(SEPT 28) On Saturday night at the Struer Arena, in Struer, Denmark, super bantamweight Dina Thorslund, 121¾, now 15-0-0 (6KO), of Struer, won a ten-round unanimous decision over Nina Radovanovic, 118¾, of Rakovica, Serbia. Radovanovic is now 14-4-0 (3KO). The two were fighting for the WBO Super Bantamweight title. There were six male bouts featured on the card.

Next Fight for Ireland’s Katie Taylor confirmed to fight Miriam Gutierrez

(SEPT 25)  In today’s news on the Internet, reports are that Katie Taylor will be fighting Miriam Gutierrez on November 14, 2020. Apparently Gutierrez is the mandatory defence against this boxer. Both will enter the ring with undefeated records, with Gutierrez at 13-0 (5KO) and Taylor 16-0-0 (6KO). The bout will take place on the Matchroom card.  Full Story

(SEPT 23) Flash From the Past: WBAN has just published a Slideshow on YouTube from the June 15, 2012, that took place at the Route 66 Casino Hotel, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Holly Holm, 146, of New Mexico, won by a 10-round unanimous decision over Anne Sophie Mathis, 145.5, of France. Shreveport to Host 2020 USA Boxing National Championships

(SEPT 20) COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.  – USA Boxing announced today the 2020 USA Boxing National Championships will now take place at the Shreveport Convention Center in Shreveport, La., Dec. 5-12. 
“Hurricane Laura wreaked havoc on the city of Lake Charles and rendered their Civic Center inhospitable for this year’s National Championships. This came on top of the pandemic which already nearly wiped out the 2020 National Tournament calendar,” stated Michael Campbell, USA Boxing Events and Operations Manager.  Full Story

(SEPT 16) Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing have signed yet another women's world boxing champion, and are set to schedule a series of unification fights in the super-featherweight ranks.  Matchroom Boxing have announced the acquisition of women's IBF super-featherweight champion Maiva Hamadouche on a multi-fight co-promotional deal with OPI Since 82.  Full Story

(SEPT 14)  The buzz in today's news is that boxing fans will be treated to a rematch between Jessica McCaskill who defeated Cecilia Braekhus for her multiple title belts (WBC, WBO, WBA, IBF, and IBO) that took place in August. The fight took place in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and the judges scored the controversial contest a majority decision with 95-95,  97-94, 97-93. Full Story

Enerolisa De León of Spain is added to WBAN's Boxers Profile Segment!

5'3" featherweight Enerolisa De León was born on January 31, 1982,  in La Vega, Dominican Republic, and currently fights out of Madrid, Spain. Enerolisa began boxing in September 2016, and in that same year she had her first amateur bout, on October 28th.   In her amateur career, she accumulated eight fights, that also included competing in Muay Thai.  Full Story

This is one of the few magazines at the time in the 1970's that even gave "any" ink to female Boxing. This is out of the Boxing Illustrated Magazine, dated September 1974! They were one of the first to actually publish female boxing ratings at the time. Mark Taffet Media Signs Agreement with Women's Boxing Heavyweight Standout Danielle Perkins

NEW YORK – September 8, 2020 - Former HBOPPV boxing head and 2018 Women’s Boxing Manager of the Year Mark Taffet, through his company Mark Taffet Media LLC, has entered into an agreement with 2019 Boxing World Championships heavyweight gold medal winner Danielle Perkins and her SBG Management team to fulfill Perkins’ dream of becoming world heavyweight champion. (SEPT 1)  Women's boxing does seem to be picking up, even through the pandemic as promoters try to find ways to keep boxing action active for boxing fans.  In the latest news, today Sauerland Promotions put out a press release in regards to the WBC ordering Thanderz to face the current WBC and IBO Super Featherweight title holder, Terri Harper, who is 10-0-1 (5KO), who has just fought in August of 2020 having a fantastic fight against Natasha Jonas!  Full Story

(SEPT 1) WBAN would like to give a huge Congratulations to both Katie Taylor and Delfine Persoon!  It was a very tough pick with some other great fights that took place recently.  In the rematch Taylor won a very close decision with Persoon---two warriors in the ring taking on tough competition when they fought again!
