(JAN 13) Today the weigh-in was held for
the upcoming bout tomorrow night in North Carolina between
Tinitia Austin and Ljeoma Egbunine. Team Canino told
WBAN, that the contract weight was for 167 lbs. Austin made weight
at 167 lbs.
But her opponent Egbunine, according to Team Austin (Bonnie Canino)
said that Egbunine came in at 172 lb. (Quote from Canino: "being
dried out, and butt naked.")
Canino told WBAN, "This fight is a controversy with the Austin camp
as a matter of setting up Austin for an even match and possible loss
with a bigger opponent, knowing she (Egbunine) couldn't make the
weight of 167 pounds. Austin wants to fight, and came to fight as
warrior would. The fight will still happen, but I just wanted to
let you and everyone else know about the unethical practices of the
Egbunine camp."
