(AUG 28) BUDAPEST, Hungary  - On the eighth day of competition at the 2018 Youth World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, Team USA advanced three boxers to the championship bouts, while Isamary Aquino (Universal City, Texas) picked up her second Youth World Championships bronze medal.  Full Story

(AUGUST 26)  Last at the Gila River Arena, in Glendale, Arizona,  Junior lightweight Mikaela Mayer, 129¼, of Woodland Hills, California, won by a third round [2:00] RTD, over Edina Kiss, 128½, of Budapest, Hungary,  in a scheduled six round bout.  Mayer remains undefeated with a 7-0-0 (4KO), and Kiss is now 14-8-0 (8KO).  The bout was televised on ESPN and ESPN Deportes.  Full Story

Results Just in: Thorslund Wins by a Decision over Jessica Munoz

(AUG 25) Tonight at the Struer Arena, in Struer, Denmark, Dina Thorslund, 121½, of Copenhagen, Denmark, won by a ten-round unanimous decision over Jessica "La Gacela" Munoz, 120½, of Sonora, Mexico.  The two were fighting for the vacant WBO Super Bantamweight Title.  Final judges scores were 90-100, 90-100, and 91-99.  The card was promoted by SPAG - Nisse Sauerland.

Argentina:  Bermudez Wins by a Decision over Natalia Alderete

(AUG 25) Last night at the Club Huracán, Tres Arroyos, Buenos Aires, Argentina, super flyweight Evelyn Bermudez, 109.5, of Santa Fe, Argentina, won a six-round unanimous decision over Natalia Alderete, 112.5, of Tucuman, Argentina.  Bermudez has remained undefeated now with a 9-0-0 (2KO).  Alderete's record fell to 3-2-0 (1KO).

(AUG 24) In 2012, the dream for amateur female boxers finally came to actuality when 36 elite female amateur boxers were included in the Summer Olympics in London. WBAN celebrated this huge breakthrough for the sport and featured the daily events that took place as they happened.  Full Story

(AUG 23)  On Monday night, August 20, 2018, at the Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan, there were seven female bouts on the All-Female boxing card.   The results were the following:  For the vacant OPBF Female Bantamweight title, Miyo Yoshida, 117.5,  won by a fifth round TD [1:39] in a  scheduled eight round bout, over Gretel de Paz, 116¼, of Tokyo, Japan.  Final judges scores were 49-46 48-47 49-46.  Full Story

London's Female Boxer Annie Newton -1893 to 1955: The Only Boxer to be banned by the Home Secretary

(AUG 21) London's female boxer Annie Newton, was born in 1893 in Highgate, North London, and passed away in 1955.  Annie began appearing in stage shows and fairground tents, at the young age of 10, and in that show she would spar with men, to raise money for various charities. She boxed for 14 years. Annie not being very healthy in her early life and she claimed that boxing training saved her from an early death.  Full Story

(AUG 19)  On September 13, 2018, there is some exciting news on the horizon when featured along with the mainliner of Pablo Cesar Cano vs. Ruslan Madiev, there will be a female bout with Franchon "The Heavy Hitting Diva" Crews-Dezurn, 3-1-0 (1KO), vs. Maricela "La Diva" Cornejo, 12-2-0 (5KO).  The two will be vying  for the Interim WBC Super Middleweight Championship.  The two will be fighting in Las Vegas, Nevada, and it may be on ESPN, we will confirm that information when it is available.  Full Story

Mexico: Anabel Ortiz Successfully Defends Title

(AUG 19) Last night at the  Club Britania, in Chihuahua, Mexico,  in one bout in a ten-rounder Anabel Ortiz, 105, won a ten-round unanimous decision over Yenifer Leon, 104. Ortiz successfully defended her WBA Strawweight title. Final judges scores were 91-99, 92-98, and 93-99. AUG 14) Yesterday as I was enjoying a little time off from updating WBAN and spending time with family, I received a link to an article with the headliner:   "Former world champion boxer St. John admits to doping during career" written by Insidethegame.com.  I have to admit that it took me completely off guard, and at first thought this has to be "fake news" as we hear our US President state so often......but no folks it is neither fake, and comes from the mouth of babes---Mia St. John.  Full Story

Two Female Bouts in Japan

(AUG 14) There were two female bouts featured on the card. In a mainliner, there was a 6-round 47.5kg catch weight fight between Masae Akitaya (current OPBF Female Atomweight Champion) and Floryvic Montero from Philippines. Akitaya won by a close majority decision. 58-58 58-57 58-57 for Akitaya; and In a 4-round fight, Flyweight Yume Hirayama won by a split decision over Yui Akai. (AUG 11) Last night Marcela "Tigresa" Acuna, now 47-7-1 (19KO), of Buenos Aires, Argentina, won a ten-round unanimous decision over Laura Soledad Griffa, 16-2-0 (1KO) of Buenos Aires.
