(JULY 31) On Sunday afternoon (July 29th) at the KBS Hall, Kyoto, Japan, there was three female boxing bouts on the card.  In a mainliner, there was a ten-round WBO Atomweight world championship fight between Nao Ikeyama, 101, of Kyoto, (Champion) and Mika Iwakawa, 102 (challenger), of Osaka.  Iwakawa won .... (JULY 31)  In other boxing action in Japan, on Sunday afternoon, July 29th, at Okinawa Convention Center Hall, in Okinawa there were two female bouts on the card.  In a mainliner, WBO Junior flyweight world champion Tsunami Tenkai, 108, of Tokyo, Japan,  won by a fourth TKO [1:33] over Gretchen Abaniel, 108, from Philippines. Canada: Sandy Tsagouris Wins by a Decision over Guadalupe Solis

(JULY 29) Last night at the Powerade Centre in Brampton, Canada, and shown on "SUPERBOX LIVE: Rising Up" professional boxing event" in the co-feature in a WIBA Super featherweight championship,  Sandy "Lil Tyson" Tsagouris, now 17-2-0 (7KO) Won by an eight round unanimous decision over Guadalupe Solis.  Final judges scores were 80-70, 80-71, and 80-71.

(JULY 28) Tonight at the O2 Arena (Millenium Dome), Greenwich, London, United Kingdom, promoted by Matchroom Boxing/Eddie Hearn, Katie Taylor, now 10-0-0 (5KO), won by TKO after 18 seconds of round three over Kimberly Connor, 132, 13-4-2 (5KO). (JULY 27) On Saturday night in Tijuana, Amaris "Diamond Girl" Quintana, now 12-3-2 (4KO), of San Diego, California, won by a second round TKO over Luz Martinez, of Ensenada, Baja California, in the second round.  The bout was scheduled for ten rounds, and they were fighting for the WBC Intercontinental Minimum (105 lb) Title.  Full Story

Two Female Bouts Featured on a Card in Japan

(JULY 26) On Monday night, at the Korakuen Hall, in Tokyo, Japan, there were two female bouts featured on the card.  In addition to women's boxing, there were five men's bouts.  In a four round bout, Kikuno Shinomiya, 103, of Kawasaki, Kanagawa, Japan, had her second pro bout against Agehe Android, 103¼, of Tokyo.  Shinomiya won by a second round TKO [0:24] over Android. The referee stopped the fight. Shinomiya is now 2-0-0 (2KO)and Android is 0-2-0.  Full Story

Boxing WILL be included in Tokyo 2020 Olympics

(JULY 19) Boxing WILL be included in the Tokyo Olympic Games of 2020 according to the International Olympic Committee which issued a Press Release tonight including the full programme for all Sports in Tokyo.
There had been significant doubts, as we told you previously, as to whether or not Boxing would be included following long drawn out ‘disputes’ between the IOC and the International Boxing Association (AIBA).  Full Story

super featherweight Hyun Mi Choi, 129¾, of Seoul, South Korea, won a ten-round unanimous decision over Mayra Alejandra Gomez, 129¾, of Neuquen, Argentina. Choi was defending her WBA Super Featherwgt. World title.

(JULY 17) On Saturday night, a second female bout that was featured at the Prince Hotel, in Daegu, South Korea, on the Choi-Gomez Card, Ji Hyun Park, 105, won a fifth round KO over  Nongnun Sor Praithong, 105.  The bout was scheduled for ten rounds.  The two were fighting for the vacant WBF International strawweight title.

Aniya Seki Successfully Defends her Three Titles

(JULY 15)  Last night at the  Baden-Arena, Offenburg, Baden-Württemberg, German, bantamweight Aniya Seki, of Berne, Switzerland, won a ten-round unanimous decision over Csilla Nemedi, of Sopron, Hungary. In this bout, Seki was defending her GBU, WIBF, and WBC Silver Bantamweight titles. Seki is now 34-3-2 (5KO), and Nemidi fell to 8-2-0 (6KO).

Lani Daniels Retains New Zealand Title

(JULY 15)   After eight rounds of boxing, Lani Daniels successfully retains the NZPBA Light Heavyweight title against Nailini Helu convincingly.
These two boxers have fought each other a few times in the amateur ranks, and both have one multiple amateur titles. Daniels on the other hand holds the pro title making this a completely different situation since the amateurs. Both boxers weighed in no problem and both looked hungrier than ever.  Full Story

Kozin Has Harder Time With Bajic In Rematch

(JULY 10) Slovenia´s Ema Kozin was penciled in to defend her World Boxing Federation (WBF) World Middleweight title against South African Mapule Ngubane on Sunday, July 8, in Budapest, Hungary. Instead she ended up re-matching former IBF world titlist Eva Bajic from Serbia.
Kozin had also been scheduled to face Ngubane in March, but due to visa problems she took on Bajic instead, on short notice, and retained the WBF world championship by fifth round stoppage.  Full Story

AIBA among first Olympic International Federations to conclude full anti-doping partnership with the International Testing Agency

(JULY 4)  The International Boxing Federation (AIBA) is among the first international federations for an Olympic sport to officially join the newly-established International Testing Agency (ITA). Following its previous relationship with the Doping Free Sports Unit of the Global Association of International Sports Federations, AIBA is fully outsourcing its anti-doping activities to the International Testing Agency (ITA), including testing, result management (for any anti-doping rule violations), intelligence-gathering, test-distribution planning, education and TUE exemptions.  Full Story
