Christina Linardatou Wins by TKO and makes History along with Kandi Wyatt in  Greece!

(MAR 25) Last night in Athens, Greece, history was made when Christina “Black Mamba” Linardatou, 137¾, of Greece,  now 11-1-0 (6KO), won by a sixth round TKO over knocking Kandi Wyatt, 138, of Canada,  down three times in the sixth round, of a scheduled ten round bout. Wyatt suffered her first loss as a professional boxer, and is now 8-1-0 (3KO).  The two were fighting for the vacant WBO 140 lb. world title. Full Story

(MARCH 24) More than 5000 spectators watched at the MHP Arena in Ludwigsburg, Germany, and many more on TV in Slovenia, as Ema Kozin became a two-weight World Boxing Federation (WBF) world champion and successfully defended her WIBA World title on Saturday night, March 23, 2019. (MAR 30)  French World Boxing Federation (WBF) Women's World Super Featherweight Champion Licia Boudersa, 13-2-2 (3 KO), defends her title against former European Champion Djemilla Gontaruk, 14-5-2 (2 KO), from Belgium on March 28 at Zenith de Lille in Lille. On February 23rd,  Boudersa (26) suffered a freak defeat at the hands of Serbian Jelena Janicijevic in what was supposed to be a routine non-title tune-up fight, when the referee decided she was unable to continue due to an injury in the fifth round.  Full Story

(MAR 18) The 4th Edition of the EUBC Under 22 Championships ended March 17th in Vladikavkaz, Russia and as expected were dominated by the host nation who once again topped the medal table.  The first edition of the EUBC European Confederation U22 Boxing Championships was held in Kaliningrad, Russia in 2012. (MAR 18) Lani Daniels wins Local award ahead of her World title fight against Geovana Peres on March 30th.  It was announced over the weekend that “The Smiling Assassin” Te Arani Moana Daniels aka Lani Daniels, won the Northland Sports Award Female Boxer of the Year. (MAR 16) On March 13, 2019, at the Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan, in an all-female boxing card, there were seven bouts featured on the card.   Would we not like to see more of these cards take place in the USA and other areas in the world?  In a Super Bantamweight bout, Chisa Tanaka, 119¾, had a four-round majority draw with Airi Motoki, 121¾.  Final judges scores were 37-39,  38-38, and 38-38. (MARCH 13)  WBAN was saddened to hear of the recent passing of 42-year old Freeda Foreman. We would like to give our sincere condolences to family and friends of Foreman.  As many media sources have reported, she was found unresponsive inside her Houston home on March 9, 2019.  The Harris County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Tebben Lewis said in a statement that the death was an apparent suicide.  Full Story

Tiara Brown named 2019 Officer of the Year by Metropolitan Police Department

(MAR 8) Undefeated female boxing star and fulltime police officer Tiara Brown (7-0, 5 KOs) has been named the 2019 Officer of the Year by the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C.  Brown is a four-year veteran on the force under Chief of Police, Peter Newsham. Brown was recently featured on the Steve Harvey talk show, which hailed her as a “real life super hero” for her work as a police officer and in community relations while finding success as a boxer.
