Argentina:  Carolina Raquel Duer and Mariana Soledad Ramirez fought to a split draw!

(NOV 30) Last night at the Estadio polideportivo, Villa de Mayo, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Carolina Raquel Duer, 121.5, had a split draw with  Marianela Soledad Ramirez, 121 1/4.  The final scores of this ten-round split draw were 94-94, 93-95, and 96-95.  Both boxers are out of Argentina.

Alrie Meleisea gets big win with rankings boost expected

(NOV 29) Alrie Meleisea and Ashley Campbell make their Television debut last night at Eventfina Stadium, Auckland, New Zealand.  Alrie Melesiea and Ashley Campbell originally were booked on December 14th card for the vacant New Zealand title. However, an opportunity called when a fight got pulled on Shane Camerons show that was televised. Both camps agreed to take the fight in a Non-title fight to get that televised opportunity....Full Story

Tania Reid makes New Zealand boxing history

(NOV 26)  Taranaki own Tania Reid had the fight of her career over the weekend taking on Australian boxer Rachel Loder for the historic Australasian Lightweight title.  The Australasian title was first fought for in 1887 with the first bout between Jack Hall and Torpedo Billy Murphy for the lightweight title. The first New Zealand boxer on record to win the title was in 1910 with Billy Wenand winning the bantamweight title. In all this time that the title has been fought for, the first women's Australasian title was in September this year with Rachel Loder..Full Story

2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Boxing Women's Field Finalized

(NOV 23)  COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Following four qualifying tournaments that began in December 2018, the field of 40 elite female boxers who will compete next month at the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Boxing in Lake Charles, La. is final. A total of 117 elite female boxers competed throughout the year for the 40 available spots. Only ten will advance from the trials competition to the next stage of the selection process and the opportunity to represent Team USA at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. (NOV 22) Less than a year after they won Elite belts, eight boxers will be back between the ropes tonight looking to claim their second titles of 2019 at Dublin’s National Stadium.  Regan Buckley, Nell Fox, Leona Houlihan, Patryk Adamus, Ken Okungnowa, Christina Desmond, Michaela Walsh and Thomas O’Toole are aiming for a double.  All eight won Elite titles last February. Tania Reid goes for Australasian title

(NOV 21) New Plymouth boxer Tania Reid is scheduled to fight this week in Sydney against Rachel Loder for the historical Australasian lightweight title.  The Australasian title is a very historical title, dating back to the first fight in 1887, with the first bout between Jack Hall and Torpedo Billy Murphy for the lightweight title. Two New Zealand boxers ranked in World rankings

(NOV 11) On 31st of October WBA released the last World boxing rankings with two New Zealand boxers in their Light Heavyweight (their version of the Heavyweight) division.   Alrie Meleisea was Ranked 5th in the WBA and 4th on Boxrec, but been inactive since November 2017. She returned to boxing September 8th after a draw with Sarah Long. Since the return, Alrie received a ranking of 8th on Boxrec and now recently announced, received a ranking of 3rd in WBA.  Full Story

(NOV 10) A special moment was shared when two of New Zealand’s only women World Champion take a photo with each other. Geovana Peres earlier this year became the first WBO Women’s World champion in the Light Heavyweight division. In 2010, Daniella Smith became the first-ever IBF Women’s World champion.   Geovana Peres tried boxing on an event to raise money for Canteen, a charity that supports Teenagers going through cancer. She went on winning New Zealand’s Golden Gloves in 2016. In 2017, She made her Pro debut, however, lost to Sarah Long. Full Story

Latest Update on Alex Love--from Amateur boxer, to pro, and Law Enforcement!

(NOV 8) WBAN had the pleasure of speaking with Alex Love earlier this week---and we wanted to give the latest update on what she is doing now.   I had the opportunity of watching her fight in the amateurs, in Spokane, Washington when she was one of  only 24 female amateur boxers who could compete in the Olympic Trials event that I attended at that time.  Love told WBAN the following:  "After the Olympic Trials in 2015, I finished my time with the Army in August of 2017.  I was fortunate to box in the World Class Athlete...Full Story

(NOV 2) Last night at Sam's Town Hotel & Gambling Hall, in Las Vegas, Nevada, flyweight Ava Knight,111¾, of Las Vegas, won an eight-round unanimous decision over Luna Del Mar Torroba,111½, of La Pampa, Argentina.   Knight improved her record to 19-2-5 (5KO), and Torroba is now 12-10-3 (2KO).
