(MAR 18) This Thursday, at the HP Pavillion, in San Jose, California, Mayela Perez, of Mexico, will have her work cut out for her when she faces world title holder, Carina Moreno, 16-1 (5KO), who also had an extensive former amateur background prior to turning pro.  The two will fight in a four round bout on the undercard.

Mayela Perez is no stranger to tough fights....She has taken on some up-hill challenges since 2006 against two other highly regarded boxers.

Her last fight took place on October 7, 2006, where she fought against Ana Marie Torres for the WBC Interim Junior Flyweight title, getting stopped in the sixth round by the highly rated Torres. In that same year, on June 7, 2006, she fought undefeated Esmeralda Moreno where she was stopped by Esmeralda in the sixth round of a 6-round bout.

Perez,  is reported to have a 7-5-1 (6KO) record.  Upon closer scrutiny of her [unverified] record, you can see that most of her knockouts come by fighting unknown 0-0-0 boxers. Those same boxers who lost to Perez, have no other reported fights on their [unverified] record.
